Strategy Is Not Certainty

Why are you working on a strategic plan?  What do you hope it will do for you?  Do you want a game plan.  Do you need to feel certain?

How will your plan hold up when things change?  What if others don't accept the strategy?  Change is inevitable.  Isn't it?  What works today may be irrelevant tomorrow.

What will happen when your stakeholders don’t accept your strategy?  What will you do when expectations change?  Your customers are the lifeblood of your business.  You need to adapt to their changing needs.

Why is strategic planning such a cumbersome process?  Why is it a once per five year exercise?  The world changes too quickly for your strategy to stay relevant.  You should be thinking strategically all the time.

How do you know if your strategy is a good one?  What are you going to measure?  Consider that certainty isn't the answer.  Strategic decisions are always risky.
